ZimZi Farm Produce was established by Frederich & Michelle van Deventer in April 2015, where we practice small scale farming on a piece of land in Hartebeesfontein, Hopefield, Western Cape. It is a harsh climate, but one of the most beautiful places in our country and certainly worth visiting.
We kicked off our farming with great enthusiasm and aimed to provide the people of the West Coast with good quality, organic veggies at an affordable price. Our dream has it's challenges and we love it!
We have taken root here on our patch of earth, which was not difficult at all. We have the most breath-taking sunrises and sunsets. I love the wind and sand, fynbos on our doorstep, wildlife that roam free, amaaaazing people, waking up to birdsong, the night silence with never-ending stars and full moons that are sometime so big that you could reach out and almost touch it. Even dodging the sun during our famous heat waves can be fun.
To contribute towards the sustainability of this place, that I've grown to love, we've decided to expand our business.
Through the platform of our online shop, we offer you a wide range of exceptional quality products at affordable prices. The products are sourced from small local businesses as far as possible. We want to invest in the people of the West Coast and what better way than to support the creativity and hard work put in by everyone around us. For example, the tannies who bake rusks and cookies or make jam and preserves for a living or the oom who makes the most beautiful wooden furniture, a friend who started a new restaurant...you get the idea. The products are awesome and the people behind the products even more so.
We work in partnership with The Mill Country Fair, which is a market that was established six years ago to provide local businesses with an offset point for their goods. The Market trades every Saturday from 10h00 - 14h00 and provides a selection of the finest goods available in Hopefield and surrounds. Also, make sure to pop in at Hello Eatery & Decor right next door, where you will find exquisite eats and decor items.
Our town also boasts its own Museum, a Padstal called 'Die Plaasmol', accommodation such as The Merry Widow Country Inn, Lodges, Self-Catering Chalets, Farm Cottages, etc. The Moose Farmstall, The Cheese Lady Diner, Simply Bee and many more are all well worth a visit.
Hope to see you soon!
